Designer's insight:

Lonko, a journey back to one's roots. To claim and to preserve one's identity. The protection of the land. The dignity and courage to fight for existence.

« Lonko » (Cacique) in Mapuche language "Mapudungun", represents the highest authority of Mapuche culture, leading the destiny of the community to which he belongs.

Lonko, our emblematic piece, expresses its personality by combining character and elegance with the utilitarian universe of MEUNE. We love its flattering, versatile, and durable side.

Crafted in fluid wool twill, Lonko is a high-waisted trouser with a tailored look and a flattering silhouette. It features a cigarette cut, buttoned ankle tabs, two flap buttoned front pockets, and two piped back pockets. It is enhanced by our iconic belt, hand-woven by Mapuche women in the Andes, Argentina.

Available in two different versions, with a PETRIFIED OAK or KOMBU GREEN hand-woven wool belt. These trousers can be paired with our KALH overshirt for an iconic look.

  • Care instructions:

We use only the finest materials for our creations, so please follow the care instructions to properly clean them.

Wool, as a fiber, cleans naturally, expels odors by controlling moisture, and is naturally resistant to stains and creases. This means you shouldn't have to wash your woolens as often.

If you must wash them, choose a hand wash in cold water. Use a chemical-free detergent designed for woolens.

Tumble dryers are not allowed as they tend to shrink the wool, so air dry flat instead.

Avoid traditional dry cleaning, which is a chemical-intensive process that can have a negative impact on the environment, textile fibers and your skin.

If dry cleaning is necessary, look for an environmentally friendly service. Ironing can crush or flatten the natural pile of threads.

Instead, steam clean your trousers to remove wrinkles and odors, and help kill dust mites and bacteria. Brush between uses to remove lint and dandruff. This will also help release the natural oils that regenerate the fibers.

ABOUT THE BRAND

Meune is an independent fashion and lifestyle label that develops limited edition, responsible “slow fashion” clothing produced locally and responsibly, through fabrics upcycling.

Meune finds its meaning in the valorization of traditional Andean know-how and cultural heritage as a quest for rootedness, natural and human harmony.

Rooted in the living heritage, traditions and craftsmanship of South America, Meune’s universe and vision of the world inspires an aesthetic and utilitarian style of its own that regenerates and transforms itself through the experiences of its creator.

Trans-seasonal creations of sophisticated elegance with character, sublimated by artisanal textiles belonging to the ancestral Andean culture.

Whether it is a single piece, upcycled or a limited edition, Meune's uniqueness is based on the valorization of traditional South American know-how and French manufacturing.

All are unique garments made in the heart of Paris from the upcycling of Haute Couture fabrics from prestigious French fashion houses. They are sublimated with artisanal textiles dyed and woven with ancestral techniques by indigenous communities in South America.
