Our fall/winter 23-24 collection is a masterful fusion of two seemingly disparate worlds: architecture and ballroom culture.
For me, the inspiration for this collection comes from a deep appreciation of the way that both architecture and ballroom dance can evoke a sense of drama, elegance, and beauty. On one hand, I am drawn to the strong lines and shapes of iconic buildings and the way that they can inspire a sense of awe and wonder. On the other hand, I am fascinated by the graceful, fluid movements of ballroom dancers and the way that they can convey a sense of power, grace, and emotion.
As I began to explore the connections between these two worlds, I found that there were many similarities and parallels that I could draw upon. The clean lines and sharp angles of modern architecture, for example, could be reflected in the structured, geometric shapes of the pieces. The sweeping curves and flowing fabrics of ballroom dance, meanwhile, could be echoed in the soft, flowing lines of the more fluid pieces.
Through careful experimentation with fabrics, textures, and design elements, we were able to create a collection that seamlessly blends these two worlds, creating a sense of harmony and balance between the drama and elegance of the architecture and the power and grace of ballroom dance. Each piece in the collection is designed to capture a specific aspect of these two worlds, whether it’s the drama and grandeur of a famous building, or the fluid movements and intricate footwork of a ballroom dancer.
