Hamlet Skirt 

This carefully thought out and constructed piece was created using a thick cotton skirt as a base. It has been hand sewed with two different sizes of chains, which were than twisted and entwined with randomly pleated and creased lighter cotton. The shape is simple and easy to wear but the skirt is very special and can be worn for both day and night.

I wanted to create a strong but wearable piece here. The chains, as in the whole collection itself, represent society being chained to its predisposition's, and that one must sometimes be let go of of preconceived ideas, and ways of seeing, in order to see the simplicity and beauty in them. The collection is inspired by Buddha’s Silent Prayer where he looks at a rose for hours on end without saying anything until one of his monks understands that he is just appreciating it for what it is.
