Händel Chain Jacket 

This carefully conceived and constructed piece is formed from a thick cotton jacket onto which I have hand sewed two different sizes of chain, twisting and entwining them with randomly pleated and creased lighter cotton to created a striking texture. The shape is simple, easy to wear yet remains refreshingly different and original.

I wanted to create a strong but wearable piece here. The chains, as in the collection as a whole, represent society being chained to its predisposition's. Sometimes one just has to let go of preconceived ideas and ways of seeing in order to appreciate simplicity and beauty. The collection is inspired by Buddha’s Silent Prayer where he looks at a rose for hours on end without saying anything until one of his monks understands that he is just appreciating it for what it is.
